Data Protection
The data protection group at Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers sits within the firm’s TMT practice and advises clients across multiple jurisdictions. Dispute Resolution: Arbitration
The dispute resolution team at Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers undertakes arbitration proceedings throughout Vietnam, as well as across South East Asia in multi-jurisdictional disputes. Chau Huy Quang and Logan Leung jointly lead the department and both have international arbitration experience regarding commercial matters; Quang is especially active in investor-state disputes, and Leung was promoted to deputy managing partner in June 2022.
Dispute Resolution: Litigation
Managing partner Chau Huy Quang leads the dispute resolution team at Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers, which covers a range of litigation, from real estate and construction disputes to consumer goods and insurance claims. Quang has substantial expertise acting in disputes for and against the government and government-linked entities. Senior associate Quach Vu An Khoa is also a core member of the team and has a far-reaching practice, representing clients in disputes involving commercial, labour and IP issues.
Labour and Employment
Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers’ practice advises clients on both contentious and non-contentious labour and employment matters. Its workload includes restructurings, redundancies, lay-offs and terminations, in addition to work permits. Vu Thi Que and Chau Huy Quang jointly lead the practice; Vu is fluent in Mandarin and is well-placed to advise Chinese companies on employment matters. Senior associate Le Quynh Nhi sits in the firms M&A department and has considerable employment law experience, advising clients on contract drafting and internal investigations. Logan Leung is another key member of the team, who was promoted to deputy managing partner in June 2022.
Projects and Energy
Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers is active in the clean energy sector, as well as acting for clients on regulatory and project-related oil and gas mandates. The practice is led by Vu Thi Que, who has considerable expertise advising on M&As in the energy sector, including wind projects. On account of her fluency in Mandarin, Que is well-placed to suppport Chinese, Taiwanese and Japanese investors entering the Vietnamese clean energy market. Que is supported by Trinh Minh Duc and Nguyen Dinh Nha; Nguyen has demonstrable experience in project financing mandates.
Real Estate and Construction
Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers acts for some of Singapore’s major developers, and is active in M&A and project work for both the selling and buying side, as well as advising clients on joint ventures. Additionally, the team has a strong contentious offering, especially in the construction space. Team head Vu Thi Que acts for Asian developers and due to her fluency in Mandarin, Que is able to service clients from mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Que is also highly adept at handling tie-ups and acquisitions of Vietnamese real estate companies for Chinese developers. Trinh Minh Duc is another key contact in the practice.
Shipping and Aviation
Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers is noted for its expertise advising on wet shipping mandates, including vessel arrests, investigations, salvages and collisions. It has a strong flow of work from Singapore and represents clients in contentious matters. Managing partner Chau Huy Quang and Logan Leung, who was promoted to deputy managing partner in June 2022, jointly lead the practice. Both Quang and Leung have strong expertise in shipping disputes.
Tax
Rajah & Tann LCT Lawyers established a dedicated tax practice in 2022 and advises clients on both non-contentious and contentious matters. Chau Huy Quang, who spearheads the dispute resolution team, has expertise in tax litigation, especially contentious matters for and against government entities. In March 2022, Nguyen Hung Du joined from DFDL Legal & Tax and chairs the practice, while senior counsel Joseph Pham joined the group from PwC Vietnam and has considerable experience advising on transfer pricing and corporate-related tax matters.
